Gerd Grimm is a German graphic artist and fashion illustrator who is best known for his fashion drawings.<\/p>\n

born 1911<\/strong> in Karlsruhe, died 1998<\/strong> in Freiburg
1929-1931<\/strong> attended the Badische Landeskunstschule, Karlsruhe
1931-1932<\/strong> Nuremberg School of Applied Arts
from 1932<\/strong> master student at the United State Schools for Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin
1936-1939<\/strong> works temporarily in France and England
1940-1941<\/strong> draft for military service
1946<\/strong> marriage to the fashion illustrator Hildegarde van G\u00fclick. Receives advertising and illustration commissions
1950-1951<\/strong> longer stay in New York. Illustrations for New York journals
1951<\/strong> settles down in Freiburg on his return
50’s fashion illustration. Book covers for the Fischer Verlag and for B\u00fcrger’s paperbacks
1959-1982<\/strong> Concept and illustration of the advertising campaign for the Reval cigarette brand
In 1961<\/strong> the first of numerous Faller calendars was created. The motifs are mostly young women, who gain great popularity as “Grimm’s girls”.
1972<\/strong> last major series of fashion drawings on the subject of ski clothing
after 1970<\/strong> focuses more and more on depicting young models in fashionable but everyday clothes. The drawings are used for the Reval campaign and for the Faller calendars<\/p>\n
