En 1939, il s&rsquo;installe \u00e0 Paris, o\u00f9 il cr\u00e9e ses premiers tableaux et dessins.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1950, Honegger s&rsquo;installe \u00e0 New York, o\u00f9 il rencontre les expressionnistes abstraits Mark Rothko et Sam Francis et des repr\u00e9sentants de la peinture hard-edge comme Al Held. Parall\u00e8lement, il travaille avec les pionniers de l&rsquo;art constructif et concret.<\/p>\n<p>De retour \u00e0 Paris et \u00e0 Zurich vers 1960, Honegger continue de peindre sur ses tableaux new-yorkais carr\u00e9s, monochromes blancs ou rouges. Il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler avec des ordinateurs et s&rsquo;est int\u00e9ress\u00e9 \u00e0 la recherche scientifique. Il a d\u00e9di\u00e9 sa premi\u00e8re grande sculpture au prix Nobel Jacques Monod.<\/p>\n<p>Dans de nombreux pays, notamment en Allemagne, en France et en Suisse, l&rsquo;\u0153uvre d&rsquo;Honegger est pr\u00e9sente : dans l&rsquo;espace public comme dans les collections priv\u00e9es et mus\u00e9ales. L&rsquo;un des points forts est la Fondation Albers-Honegger, qui a ouvert ses portes \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2004 \u00e0 Mouans-Sartoux dans le sud de la France. Il abrite la collection de Gottfried Honegger et a inaugur\u00e9 le 24 janvier 2016 une exposition de ses oeuvres intitul\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0alpha om\u00e9ga\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;artiste a re\u00e7u ses distinctions les plus importantes en France et en Suisse : en 1985, il est devenu le \u00abChevalier de l&rsquo;Ordre des Arts et des Lettres\u00bb fran\u00e7ais. En 1987, il re\u00e7oit le prix d&rsquo;art de la ville de Zurich.
