Son style est puis\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;avant-garde parisienne, notamment chez Sonia et Robert Delaunay, Wassily Kandinsky et Otto Freundlich. Vers 1938, Poliakoff se tourna vers l&rsquo;abstraction et peignit des images bidimensionnelles aux couleurs fortement contrast\u00e9es, parfois aussi monochromes.
