Michael Stich (*1968) is known as a tennis champion & Wimbledon winner, today he is appreciated as an expressive artist. Already during his career as a top athlete, Stich developed a close connection to art. As a collector and exhibition visitor, he found inspiration, which he has been processing artistically in his own studio in Hamburg for many years. Stich has been presenting his paintings to the public since 2022 and impresses with an impressive oeuvre that combines colorful power and emotional depth. The exhibition shows key groups of works, including the impressive Lightning Series on Japan and China paper – an interplay of transparency and contrasts that reflects themes such as strength, vulnerability and personal experience. Using oil, acrylic, pigments or wood glue, she usually creates abstract, powerful compositions – sometimes with a brush, sometimes with a palette knife or squeegee. For Stich, painting is an intensive process of inner confrontation.
